I recently completed DEI Foundations: Board Governance & Leadership through the Mante Molepo Governance Academy, and I can’t overstate how essential this training is. What sets it apart is not just the coverage of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion concepts, but the depth with which the course probes ingrained assumptions; the breadth of topics—from governance structures, policy oversight, leadership accountability to the lived experience of inclusion; the clarity and rigor of its modules; and most importantly, how it fosters genuine self-reflection among participants.
Every chapter challenged me to look beyond the surface: to examine how board decisions, organizational norms, and leadership practices can unintentionally perpetuate systemic inequities. The lessons are structured so that you’re not only learning “what DEI is,” but being asked “how am I part of the problem, and how can I be part of the solution?” That kind of honest introspection makes this course more than just informational—it’s transformative.
For any board member, senior leader, or organization committed to real change, DEI Foundations is a must-have. It delivers strategic insight and practical frameworks that can reshape governance, culture, and mission in ways that are sustainable and meaningful.

Mante has taken her right place in the DEI space because of her outstanding ability to lead, to teach and engage her audience in difficult conversations with simplicity of language and clarity of thoughts. She is a pioneer, a trailblazer and an advocate for the underdogs but a teacher to the Executives. She stands out because of her professional courtesy and her careful choice of words during her sessions.

What resonated the most was Mante’s ability to provide tangible advice on how to respond in specific situations. She gave a good foundation, especially with that picture of equality vs equity, which I am sure many were familiar with, to then have a discussion starting from a place of common understanding. I really appreciated the way she also used personal examples. I think the sharing of her lived experience helps her connect with the audience.

Not many people can confidently step into challenging scenarios with senior leaders and engage them in constructive conversation. Mante is one of those people. It’s a privilege to have had her as an instructor in the Rotman/ICD Board Dynamics Program. I strongly recommend her as a facilitator in any classroom or boardroom setting.
