LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Mante Molepo Consulting is located on the unceded and unsurrended Territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation who are the traditional guardians of this land. We pay our respects to the knowledge keepers and defenders who have guided and protected this land since time immemorial.

Mante Molepo is grateful for the opportunity to call Ottawa home. As a stateless child, Canada became the first country to provide her family with a safe place to live, grow and achieve opportunities. Mante acknowledges the complexity of Canada being a refuge to many displaced Indigenous Peoples of the global majority, while also denying rights to First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples of this land.

We acknowledge the history and legacy of colonialism and the intergenerational trauma that continues to impact First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. We also acknowledge the traditional knowledge and world views of Indigenous Peoples that must inform and challenge dominant ways of thinking and being.

We acknowledge Indigenous Peoples’ inherent rights to self-determination as set out in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Our Commitment to truth and Reconciliation

As a consulting firm, we have taken the following actions towards truth and reconciliation:

  • We continue to learn about the history of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples as the first inhabitants of this land; the history of colonialism and approaches to decoloniziation.
  • We advise our clients to implement the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and to centre the voices of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in the development, implementation and review of organizational policies and practices. While we do not speak on behalf of Indigenous Peoples, we work with our clients to identify systemic barriers affecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, including barriers to employment and access to opportunities. For instance, we have worked with our clients to extend procurement opportunities to Indigenous suppliers.
  • Each month, we financially contribute to Indigenous organizations supporting the empowerment of Indigenous communities.
